India finished the Day 2 of the third Test in a good position. The visitors concluded the day with a healthy lead of 42 runs, losing just 1 wicket. Indian bowlers were brilliant today, as they restricted South Africa for just 194. On the Day 1, Indian batsmen found it tough on a pitch which was assisting pacers by offering a lot of seam movement. Cheteshwar Pujara was the only batsman who looked in control as he grinded out at the crease for 179 balls as he brought up his half-century.
Cheteshwar Pujara: The birthday boy
The Saurashtra batsman celebrates his 30th birthday today. He spent his birthday on the field but his fans did not forget to wish the right-handed batsman. The official Twitter handle of the Lord’s also joined to wish Cheteshwar Pujara, as he turned 30.
The Mecca of cricket tweeted a birthday wish along with a video of him batting in the Lord’s of cricket. The 30-year-old had previously played in Lords when India toured England in 2014.

It was an unsuccessful tour for both India and Cheteshwar Pujara. He struggled for runs throughout the tour as he failed to make an impact on the series which India lost 3-1.
After that tour, India went to Australia where Pujara struggled again and was eventually dropped from the Indian team. He had to work hard to earn back his place in the team and he has not looked back ever since.
The right-handed batsman has been very consistent for India as he has scored runs for fun over the last few years. A lot was expected from him when India toured South Africa but he struggled in the first two Tests. He was unlucky to be run out twice in the second Test but his performance in the third Test signals that he is back in form.
India would tour England after this and India’s Test specialist would be looking to make amends this time around.
