Suryakumar Yadav has once again proved that hard work always pays off by scoring a stunning fifty in his debut innings in international cricket on Thursday (March 18). The right-handed batsman toiled hard for more than a decade in domestic cricket, scored heavily without too many rewards. But Suryakumar kept working hard and proved his class on every possible opportunity before being finally rewarded with a maiden India call-up for the ongoing T20 series against England.

His international career got off to a dramatic start as he did not get a chance to bat on his debut. Just a couple of days later, he was surprisingly dropped from the playing eleven in order to make way for incumbent opener Rohit Sharma. But Suryakumar knows how to deal with setbacks and he showed it once again during the ongoing 4th T20I.

Suryakumar got the chance in the playing eleven only because Ishan Kishan was injured and he made the most of it. Unlike on his debut, Suryakumar got a chance to bat. The team-management promoted him at number four and the Mumbai star repaid their faith by scoring a blazing fifty. In an innings where the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli failed to get going, Suryakumar looked a class apart.

Suryakumar Yadav’s breathtaking knock and controversial dismissal

Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat in the fourth over after Rohit’s departure. He started his innings on a stunning note by dispatching Jofra Archer for a six on the very first ball he faced. There was no looking back since then. He was eventually out for 57 off 31 balls. Suryakumar’s whirlwind knock was laced with six fours and 3 sixes.

The 30-year old played his shots right from the start and showed his immense ability. He played shots all around the park as he took the England bowlers to the cleaners. Suryakumar reached his fifty off just 28 deliveries with a four. He could add seven more runs before departing. Interestingly, he was given out in a controversial manner without any conclusive evidence. Many cricketers reacted to the incident and bashed the third umpire for making a wrong decision.
