Maratha Arabians rope in Rashid Khan for upcoming T10 league

The Arabians were knocked out of the first edition after their semi-final defeat against Kerala Kings.

Afghanistan have produced quite a few impressive talents over the past few months, Rashid Khan is one of them. The tweaker has weaved his magic across the globe and he has been a part of a number of teams as his career has progressed. the wrist spinner will now play for the Maratha Arabians in the second edition of the T10 league after being picked at a mini-draft in Dubai on Monday.

The Arabians were knocked out of the first edition after their semi-final defeat against Kerala Kings in Sharjah. The team is owned by Parvez Khan of Pacific Ventures, Bollywood Actor/Director/Producer Sohail Khan and Ali Tumbi of Aqua Properties. Former Pakistani seam bowler Wasim Akram remains to be the coach of the franchise. Meanwhile, Rashid expressed his delight after bagging the deal.

I believe that Rashid will be a great asset

“I am extremely excited to be playing for Maratha Arabians in the second season of the T10 League.  After having played Twenty20 cricket all over the world, I was looking forward to a challenge. Playing the T10 format is the perfect step up for me. I am looking forward to playing the world’s shortest format alongside some iconic players,” Rashid was quoted as saying in Sportskeeda.

Pervez Khan also sounded ecstatic after the signing. “It is with great joy that we welcome Rashid Khan and James Faulkner to Maratha Arabians. Rashid is the youngest player to top the ICC Player Rankings for Bowlers in ODIs. I believe that Rashid will be a great asset to the team and we will have an extremely strong bowling attack,” he mentioned.

They retained Kamran Akmal, the Pakistani wicketkeeper, Dwayne Bravo, the Windies all-rounder, and Alex Hales, the right-handed batsman from Nottingham in England. Australian all-round cricketer James Faulkner was their other new pick in the draft. The Kings won the last season as they beat the Punjabi Legends by eight wickets in the final.

In the meantime, Rashid also took to Instagram and expressed his delight. He wrote, “I am super excited to be the Icon Player of the @marathaarabians team in season 2 of T10 League.
