Lord’s is set to witness a unique battle on Sunday as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), Nepal and Netherlands will fight it out the T20 tri-series. All the matches will be played throughout the day and the spectators will be treated with as many as three T20s. The former Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene will lead MCC as they will cross swords against the two nations who have been recently awarded the ODI status.
Nepal and Netherlands were the part of the World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year held in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, they couldn’t qualify for the mega event but their impressive show in the tournament, helped them earn the much deserved ODI status. While Nepal were the newest entrants to the list of the nations playing the 50-overs format, the Dutch regained it after being relegated a few years ago for their poor performances.
Both the countries will also lock horns against each other in the Netherlands on August 1 and August 3 as Nepal will step into the new world of the limited-overs format. However, they would love to leave a mark in the T20 tri-series which will be played at the Home of Cricket.
