Mashrafe Mortaza speaks up on the smooth relationship with Indian cricketers

Mortaza claimed that the sledging on the field is a part of the game but it is always done within limits.

Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza was honoured by Kolkata media house ABP Anondo recently. He was rewarded with the ‘Shera Bangali’ award for his massive contributions to Bangladeshi cricket as a player and a captain. During the award ceremony which took place on Saturday night, Mortaza spoke about the friendly relation between the Indian and Bangladeshi cricketers.

The story:

Mortaza pointed out that the cricketers of the two neighbouring countries share a very healthy relationship between themselves. He said that they Bangladeshi cricketers caught up and had a chat with the Indian cricketers after their ICC Champions Trophy semi final clash last month.

Mortaza revealed that he personally has a great rapport with Indian power hitter Yuvraj Singh. Speaking about other team mates he said that Rubel Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim goes along well with Virat Kohli.

“We have a nice relation with Indian cricketers. We talked and gossiped even after Bangladesh lost to India in the Champions Trophy. I personally have great relationship with Yuvraj Singh. My team mates Rubel Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim has fine affinity with Virat Kohli,” he said.

Mortaza claimed that the sledging on the field is a part of the game but it is always done within limits. “It was never that much,” he said.

Mashrafe Mortaza has featured for Bangladesh in 36 Test matches and has picked up 78 wickets at an economy rate of 3.24. As far as One Day Internationals are concerned, the bowler has 232 wickets to his name from 179 caps.

Mashrafe Mortaza recently parted ways with Comilla Victorians ahead of the 5th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. The bowler is set to wear the jersey of the Rangpur Riders in this edition of the tournament. Mortaza was the captain of the Comilla Victorians in the two previous seasons, which also include their winning campaign in 2015.
