Matt Renshaw bears the brunt of criticisms after withdrawing prior to lunch
2 Min Read

After batting reasonably well, Australia opener Matt Renshaw had to be withdrawn from the field of play after being the beneficiary of an attack by a stomach bug. However, this was also something that ensured that he had to leave the field 15 minutes before the lunch interval. This was clearly not taken too well by many given the fact that he was not injured at the time. Allan Border, Australia’s straight faced former skipper also went ahead and opened up on the same before Michael Clarke followed suit.
Border on Fox Sports said, “It’s such a shame, we saw him having to go off 15 minutes before lunch. I hope he is lying on the table there half dead otherwise as a captain I would not be happy.”
Clarke went on to add, “Only 15 minutes until lunch, I can’t believe Renshaw is retiring. He must be extremely sick and has a stomach bug and has to go to the bath room – this is unbelievable. Steve Smith didn’t know what was going on, coming on the field and seeing his partner run past him.”
“Two new batsmen for Australia, tough time before lunch, last thing Shaun Marsh would have wanted,” Clarke exclaimed on commentary.
