Joshua Hayden, son of legendary Australian batsman Matthew Hayden lived up to his father’s expectations by playing a wonderful inning in the Under-13s match for Wynnum-Manly against South Junior Heat in Brisbane. Joshua played a magnificent 71 run knock which also became his career highest score. A jubilant Matthew Hayden took to his official Twiter account to share his happiness.
Matthew Hayden has had a monumental career as a cricketer where he played 103 Test and 161 One Day Internationals. The big Australian has scored 30 hundreds as far as the longest form of the game is concerned while his centuries in the 50 over games stand at 10. He also went past Brian Lara’s Test highest score of 375 when he played a mammoth 380 run inning against Zimbabwe.
However, Lara broke that record once again when he became the first and only batsman to score 400 runs in an inning in Test cricket. Hayden has been involved in two World Cup Winning campaigns with Australia but the batsman stated that the proudest moment in his life was to see his son raise his bat after the praise-worthy inning.

He also stated that his son is slowly beginning to get hooked up to the game and that is all he cares about. “May have had a chance to raise the bat a few times but nothing can replace how proud I was of our son today,”. “Very happy … he is really starting to love the game which is all I care about as dad.”
Though Joshua’s team lost the match, Hayden Junior took 2 wickets at the cost of 27 runs in the eight overs that he bowled. Here is the Twitter post from Matthew Hayden:
