In the 17th match of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) , the four-time champions Mumbai Indians will clash with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the second afternoon match of the season on October 4 (Sunday). Both sides are coming into the contest on the back of splendid wins behind them and will be brimming with confidence.

While MI registered its second win in the league after defeating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by a margin of 48 runs, SRH is entering this match with a humble win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 7 runs. Mumbai had a decent start to their campaign in the 2020 edition of the T20 extravaganza as they registered victory in two of the four opening games.

After losing a close match against CSK, the team bounced back and won its first match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 49 runs. Further, MI had almost clinched the match while chasing the mammoth target of 202 posted by RCB, but they eventually lost the game in super over followed by an important victory against KXIP by a decent margin.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be in good shape after winning consecutive matches against Delhi Capitals and Super Kings respectively. Though the team didn’t start their campaign on a good note as they had to face defeat against RCB and KKR, they bounced back beautifully to have 4 points in bag. Now, in the match against MI, SRH would be looking forward to continuing their winning streak.

Pitch and Conditions

Just like the previous matches, the Sharjah pitch is expected to favour the batsman. The user can witness a high-scoring match as the last game played there was a run-feast as both sides scored in excess of 200.

Pitch will be more suitable for pacers as spinners can have a tough time because of the dew and short boundaries. The team winning the toss might bat first as there will be no dew factor in the second-innings.

Playing Combinations for MI vs SRH

Mumbai Indians Probable 11

Given the team Mumbai Indians have on paper, it would not be wrong to say that they have perhaps the most well-balanced side in the tournament. The top-order looks lethal with the presence of Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. However, it is the middle-order that has contributed most towards the team’s victory in IPL 2020. All the players including Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya are in good form. The presence of Krunal Pandya towards the end provides more depth to the batting line-up.

On the bowling front too, Mumbai looks quite intimidating with two of the world’s best bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult in their team. James Pattinson is another speedster who has been brilliant in the tournament so far. Though unlike the pacers, the spin department looks inexperienced, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya have done a fine job until now. Therefore, MI will not be keen on making any changes to their playing XI.

Probable 11: Quinton de Kock (wk), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, James Pattinson, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Probable 11

The middle-order of SRH looks weak and inexperienced on paper but after Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma’s brilliant partnership against CSK, SRH seems to have a good batting line-up. Though the top-order that includes David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson looks out of the touch, they are expected to score big on the grounds of Sharjah.

The strength of Hyderabad lies in their bowling department and the team would not wish to change anything in this. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was injured in the match against Super Kings and is expected to not play the match against Mumbai. In this scenario, Siddarth Kaul can get a chance as the main pacer of the side.

Probable 11: Jonny Bairstow (wk), David Warner (C), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sherma, Abdul Samad, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul, Rashid Khan, T. Natarajan
