The Men in Blue have become one of the strongest sides in World cricket across all formats. In the past two years, the team has enjoyed a golden run. Defeating India in India has become very rare. The main reason for India’s success over the past few years lies in the players who have led the team.

Players like Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni left a lasting impression on Indian cricket. Ganguly took charge of the team when they were not doing well and were finding it difficult to beat other nations. Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke believes that it was Sourav Ganguly who made Indian cricket fearless and a world force. The attitude instilled by Ganguly was carried on by MS Dhoni and is currently maintained by Virat Kohli.

Best in the World

Virat Kohli has set high standards for the team and is leading from the front. “India is a threat to becoming the best team in the world for not just one year but for the next 5-10 years. That’s because their depth is so strong and bench strength is so strong. India is brilliant team particularly in ODIs. They can adjust in England conditions. Wickets will be different in Tests and in World Cup, there are likely batting wickets. If they got attitude they are going to be tough to beat,” Michael Clarke was quoted as saying by deccanchronicle.com.

The Indian team is full of match winners. While teams looking for one good wrist spinner, India is blessed to have two in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. An opener like Rohit Sharma can take the game away from opposition quickly while the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni can pile on the misery to the opposition. Clarke also quoted an incident where Ganguly trolled Australian skipper Ricky Ponting to send a message that they no longer are going to be bullied by Aussies.

At a toss, he once called Head Tail and Indian went on to bat first making some 500-run odd score. Our skipper was clueless and Sourav sent a message that they are no longer going to be bullied and deserves credit for instilling a fearless attitude in the Indian team,” he added.

Clarke also backed Ashwin to make a comeback in the limited overs format. The duo of Ashwin and Jadeja are constantly being left out of the squad especially after the impressive performance of Chahal and Kuldeep. Since then, Ashwin has worked a lot on his game and has also learnt to bowl leg-spin to right-handers which is a positive sign for Indian cricket.
