The 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is now underway with all its glamour. The tournament kicked off on 23rd March 2019 and will end on 12th May. As of now, a couple of weeks have already passed through since this season kickstarted and there’s no denying to the fact that the two weeks have been full of entertainment and exhilaration. As always, the tournament has yet again lived up to its highly-regarded grandeur.

From sheer dominance to fighting spirit, from moments that define the spirit of cricket to controversial instances, the fans and pundits have been able to witness some high-quality thrilling actions over the past two weeks. Thus far, the tournament has been a high-octane extravaganza where players from different backgrounds have proved their mettle in the game of cricket.

Howbeit, despite being such a big event with various features and attributes, the cognoscentes and aficionados still have some demands regarding the tourney. Whilst some fans want the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to introduce more teams of diverse backgrounds in IPL, some enthusiasts, on the other hand, want the management to allow 5 overseas players to play in one game.

Who are on the bench could be utilised elsewhere…

In the meantime, the former English Cricketer Michael Vaughan has also advised the BCCI to add a mid-season transfer window in the IPL. In his recent tweet, the Yorkshire cricketer was seen asking the IPL officials to introduce a one-week trading window where teams can buy, sell or exchange their players.

The Manchester-born was basically referring to those players, who have to warm the bench throughout the season, despite being extremely talented. “The #IPL should bring a one-week trading window where teams can get players from other franchises …. especially some of those who are sat on the bench and could be utilised elsewhere … #OnOn” the 44-year old posted this tweet from his official twitter handle.

Here is the tweet:

Although, a piece of information which is known to very few people is the fact that IPL once had a trading window. It was introduced last year i.e. during the 11th season of IPL, however, no team took part in this midseason window. Hence, as a result, the window was eventually dissolved this time around and it’ll be really interesting to see if the IPL officials start this initiative again.
