The Islamabad United team displayed a stunning and remarkable performance to win the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 season against Peshawar Zalmi. The Islamabad team defeated the Zalmi side by 3 wickets in the final game to clinch their second PSL title at the National Stadium in Karachi.

They were also the winners of the inaugural edition of the PSL in 2016. Islamabad’s overseas recruit Luke Ronchi emerged the explosive star performer for his team in the final match as well as in the whole tournament in which he amassed a magnificent total of 435 runs in 11 matches with his hard willow and was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance.

Thank you mate for that entertaining show: Misbah

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who was also the regular skipper of the Islamabad franchise, was ruled out of the playoffs due to injury in which he suffered a hairline fracture in his wrist during the league games of the third edition of the PSL. Thus, in his absence, South African batsman JP Duminy was appointed the captain of the PSL franchise for the rest of the tournament.

Misbah thanked Ronchi for the display of the explosive and entertaining performance in the final match of the season which he played in Pakistan. Ronchi smacked 52 runs in 26 balls to provide an explosive start for his team in the run chase and his knock also reduced the pressure of a finale game on the rest of the side, which then delivered the finishing touches for the win.

“A massive thanks to you mate [Ronchi] for not only coming to Pakistan but also entertaining cricket fans with your top class crispy contributions with the bat. Despite cricket, you are a wonderful human,” Misbah wrote on his Twitter handle in his appreciations for Ronchi’s knock in the final match of PSL 3.

The former Kiwi cricketer also received the Man of the Match award for his spectacular inning in the final match. He thanked all the fans and his team members who supported him throughout the competition.

“A massive thank you to everyone involved @IsbUnited met some great people and was lucky enough…” tweeted Ronchi.
