India Women and Australia Women recently locked horns in a three-match One Day International series in Vadodara. The series turned out to be a one-sided affair as the visitors dismantled the hosts and clean swept the series by a margin of 3-0. After comprehensive wins in the first couple of ODI’s, Australia replicated their form in the third game as well and clinched victory by 97 runs.
Alyssa Healy was scintillating for Australia and her superb knock of 133 runs off 115 balls paved the way for Australia’s mammoth victory. The Queensland-born cricketer notched his maiden century in ODIs, which was crafted with 17 boundaries and a couple of monstrous strokes over the ropes. Her knock laid the platform for Australia to rack up a humongous score on the board.
En route his magnificent exhibition of batsmanship, she also became the highest individual run-scorer for Australia in India, surpassing Meg Lanning’s 128 runs in 2012. Quite expectantly, the wicket-keeper batswoman was crowned as the Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc, the Australian fast bowler and the husband of Healy, was ecstatic by her performance.
Subsequently, he took to Instagram, the social media platform, to express his delight. He wrote “Maiden 100. First ODI ton by an Aus women’s keeper. Highest Aus score v India. Not a bad days work! Bloody legend! #proudhubby”
