The support for Navjot Sidhu from Pakistan is increasing after he was bashed in India for visiting Pakistan. Imran Khan‘s swearing-in ceremony as the Prime Minister of Pakistan has been quite an event in the neighbouring country. While all the eyes were on him when the elections took place, the news of Pakistan Thereek-e-Insaaf (PTI) inviting the three former Indian cricketers spread like wildfire.

While Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev didn’t accept the invitation to attend the oath-taking ceremony citing different reasons, Sidhu stayed put to his word and went ahead. He was showered with all the love as soon as he landed in the country and was treated well by them. Moreover, Sidhu also gifted a Kashmiri Shawl to Imran after meeting him and then hugged the Pakistan Army Chief which irked many people back home.

However, with all the bashing in India, Sidhu has found good support from Pakistan cricketers including their newly crowned Prime Minister. Mohammed Hafeez was the latest to voice himself in favour of the former Indian cricketer.

We must respect each other

He credited Navjot Sidhu for making an effort to visit Pakistan for the event and felt that he brought a sense of peace and humanity from India. “It was great to have @sherryontopp in Pakistan, he brought a sense of Peace & respect for humanity, all Pakistan enjoyed his short stay here, we must Respect each other & should work together for humanity & better world,” he tweeted.

Earlier in the day, even Shahid Afridi came out in support for him and was in favour of India and Pakistan joining hands and stay in peace rather than blaming each other. On the other hand, Imran Khan was all of the peace between the two countries and also went on to say that the people criticising Sidhu in India doesn’t want both the countries to come together.

Here’s what Hafeez tweeted:
