St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) clinched a memorable victory against St Lucia Stars by 33 runs in the match 10 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. And it was former Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi, who played the role of the chief architect. Batsman Evin Lewis hit the highest score by smashing 92 off 52 balls as St Kitts & Nevis Patriots maintained their record as the only unbeaten team in the competition. They look strong to make it to the playoffs for the first time in their history.
Team performance
STNP are at the 2nd spot in the points table currently, with Trinibago Knight Riders taking the top spot. All-rounder Nabi posted a video on Twitter, captioning a ‘quick one’. The clip comprised of Nabi getting the better of Andre Fletcher, as the latter was bowled for a well made 48 off 33 balls. The Stars could only make 163/8 in their 20 overs. Apart from Fletcher, Marlon Samuels scored a 15-ball 21. Samuels was dismissed by Pakistan’s Mohammed Hafeez, who took a catch on his own bowling.
Nabi ended with figures of 3/15, while Hafeez bagged 3/22. Earlier in the game, Skipper Chris Gayle got out cheaply for 12, and it was only Lewis who got a strong hold on the opposition. Nabi too contributed with the bat towards the end of the innings, staying unbeaten on 24 from just nine balls, courtesy four boundaries and one six. He was complimented by the World T20 2016 final star Carlos Braithwaite, who chipped in with a 14-ball 21.
Witty Nabi
The Afganistan players are quite popular on social media, and they receive immense amount of support from their fans. Nabi tagged Shafiq Stanikzai and Sami Shinwari in the post, putting out a witty call to the two. Clearly, he is enjoying playing in the CPL, and we will be happy to see him grab a few more as the tournament progresses.
