After succumbing to yet another defeat against India in an ICC tournament, Mohammad Yousuf wants PCB to fire the current coach Mickey Arthur. According to Yousuf, Arthur hasn’t had a positive impact on the fortunes of Pakistan ever since taking charge of the national side. During his tenure, Pakistan has slipped to No. 8 in the ODI rankings.

Sarfaraz poor on the big day

Pakistan team has been under the pump ever since they were ridiculed by India in both sides first group game of the tournament. Batting first, India were allowed to get off the hook by some average leadership by Sarfaraz Ahmed. Rohit struggled against Amir and to everyone’s surprise, Sarfaraz got the left-arm spinner Imad Wasim to bowl the second over. He bowled 6 innocuous overs with the new ball which could have been used better by someone like Hasan Ali. Rohit and Dhawan utilised these overs to get their eye in and launched an attack later in their innings. Fielding lapses later in the innings ensured that Kohli and Yuvraj tear the bowling apart in the death overs.

Junaid’s omission defied logic

Yousuf wasn’t particularly impressed by the omission of Junaid Khan, who has had a tight lid over Virat Kohli the last time they were pitted against each other. The reason that Arthur gave for omitting Junaid was that he ‘feels Junaid and Hasan are similar bowlers’. This further dilapidated Yousuf further as he said that a left-arm bowler and a right-arm bowler can never be similar to each other, reports DuniyaNews.

The former Pakistan batsman, who has played India twice in the Champions Trophy scoring 80’s in both games, said that it was displeasing to see Pakistan not even putting up a fight against India.

Pakistan still has a superior record against India overall in ODIs but of late, the gap between both sides is getting wider and wider. It has been almost three years since Pakistan has won a limited-overs game against arch-rivals India.
