The Pakistan tour of New Zealand is all set to commence from the 6th of January. All-rounder Mohammed Hafeez is optimistic regarding Pakistan’s chances in the limited over series against the Kiwis.

The senior man sounded positive when asked to rate Pakistan’s chances in the five-match ODI series. Talking to media in Karachi, Hafeez spoke about the confidence level in the dressing room, his personal prospects for the tour and the injuries surrounding the Pakistani camp.

I am confident that we will do well in New Zealand

Mohammed Hafeez portrayed that Pakistan’s recent performance had been phenomenal. While he accepted that it wasn’t going to be an easy task defeating New Zealand at home, the players were up for the challenge.

“We have been doing good in limited over Cricket and I have no doubt that team will win the series in Sri Lanka as well. Players are confident and know their roles, although beating New Zealand at home ground isn’t easy for any team, but I am confident that we will do good there.”

Being a veteran, Pakistan are going to count upon Mohammed Hafeez to deliver. The all-rounder said that he was aware of the conditions there and wanted to deliver what was expected of him.

“Being a senior player, I will try to deliver what’s expected from me and will contribute to the team’s success. I have been to New Zealand before many times and I know how the conditions are going to be for us in the series,” he added.

Injuries to Imad and Junaid have dented our combination

Hafeez sounded disappointed with big players like Imad Wasim and Junaid Khan ruled out due to injuries. However, he showed confidence on the other bowlers to thrive in their absence.

“It’s always bad to see players going out due to injuries, it surely dents your combination but I’m confident that Nawaz and Mohammed Amir are capable enough to deliver what’s expected from them in absence of Imad Wasim and Junaid Khan,” he added
