The Bangladesh team is going through a renaissance period at the moment. While they have been ticking all boxes right, they need to sort out their middle-order woes. 25-year old Sabbir Rahman has played six Test matches so far for Bangladesh and the upcoming series against Australia will be crucial for both the hosts and for him individually. But former Bangladesh cricketer Rajan Saleh prefers Mominul Haque instead of Sabbir Rahman at the no. 3 spot.

Saleh feels that Sabbir doesn’t fit in the no. 3 spot and won’t be an ideal pick during the 2-Test match series against Australia. Mominul has scored over 1600 runs from 22 Test matches at an average of 46.88. He has so far registered 4 centuries and 11 fifties.

“We should pick Mominul for no.3 as Sabbir is not perfect for the no. 3 position in test matches. On the other hand, I think Sabbir has to struggle a lot to get the chance in playing XI as we already have Miraz and Mosaddek in our team,” said the former middle-order batsman.

Imrul Kayes an option

Rajan Saleh also added that if the team management has a change of heart, then they should go with Imrul kayes. If team management decides to exclude Mominul from the team, then I think Imrul should be given the privilege. However, we should pick three spinners and two seamers as that will be the perfect combination.”

The former batsman also shared his expectation from Mushfiqur Rahim and his team as he said, “I am expecting a lot from current Bangladesh team. We lost to Australia as we were not much experienced at that time but this team is much experienced. Hopefully, they won’t do any silly mistakes.”

The Bangladesh side will lock horns with the visiting Australian team in the 2-Test match series, starting from August 27. The 2nd Test match will be played on September 4, after which they will travel to South Africa to take part in the two Test match series, which will be followed by 3-ODIs and 2-T20s.
