With T20 becoming a fan-favourite format in the last few years, a T20 World Cup is nothing short of a festival for the lovers of the game. This year, the gala tournament takes place in Australia with 16 teams in pursuit of the title. While the top eight sides were already awarded a place in the Super 12, the other sides were asked to battle it out in a preliminary round with four positions in the next stage up for grabs.
Seven editions of the T20 World Cup took place before the 2022 season. Defending champions Australia are staging the marquee competition for the first time ever and will be looking to defend it on their home soil.
Meanwhile, T20 cricket is known to be a format of batters with boundary sizes not being enormous and bats being manufactured of the highest quality. However, one must not forget that all it takes is one delivery to end a batter’s outing.
Hence, scoring runs consistently in this format and getting half-centuries takes some beating. The challenge becomes even more daunting in a tournament like the T20 World Cup. Nevertheless, many players have embraced this challenge breached the 50-run mark several times in the gala Tournament.
