No, don’t get it wrong. Marnus Labuschagne is a very fine cricketer without a shadow of a doubt. He has done remarkably well in Test cricket. He is also one of the fastest batsmen to get to 1000 runs in Tests.

It’s his selection into the ODI setup which can be questioned at times. He has scored 473 runs in 12 innings which includes a century as well. With an average of 39.42 and a strike rate of 91, these should be considered pretty good numbers.

But he has been included into the side ahead of Peter Handscomb and Travis Head in Australia‘s ODI side. While Labuschagne is effective in ODIs, these two batsmen can turn out to be match winners. The fact that he got included into ODI side based on his Test form raises a lot of eyebrows.
