Cricket lovers from all around the globe wait patiently for the biggest extravaganza of One Day Internationals (ODIs) which is the ICC Cricket World Cup. The marquee tournament showcases the participation of the best teams from all around the world taking part in this major tournament. It is also a perfect stage for the players to showcase their talent as well as skills so that the world recognizes them.

Millions of cricket fans around the world tune in to witness the ICC World Cup which is held at an interval of every four years. The competition sees the participation of the best 10 teams in the World at that time. All these ten teams contest against each other for lifting the coveted silver-and-gold trophy after weeks of demanding and stressful games. Though cricket is a team sport but individual performances do matter as these small- small individual performances create a huge impact on the game and also decide the fortune of the team going ahead in the competition.

However, the trophy is not the only prize for the participating teams but ICC also has the award of Golden Bat which is given to the player who scores the most runs throughout the tournament. In the 12 editions of the World Cup which have taken place, Sachin Tendulkar of India is by far the highest run-getter. The legendary India batter has meanwhile played 45 matches within his span of 1992-2011 scoring a record 2278 runs at an astonishing average of 56.95. This record becomes way more commendable considering the magnitude of the matches as playing in World matches and scoring is like scoring against the best in the world. The former Indian batter also holds the record along with Rohit Sharma for the most number of centuries in the history of the tournament.

The latest edition of the ICC World Cup 2023 is supposed to be hosted by India and the tournament is set to take place in the month of October- November. Now, with roughly only three months remaining for the supreme tournament, the schedule is yet to be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, as per reports the ICC is set to host an event in Mumbai coming this week on June 27 where it is believed that the schedule might be announced in that event.
