The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t let the world sleep in peace over the last few days. The COVID-19 debacle has been spreading at an alarming rate and it’s tough to see light at the end of the tunnel for the time being. The cases have been increasing and the death tolls aren’t showing signs of slowing down. Countries like China, Italy and Iran have been deeply affected.

United Kingdom (UK) haven’t escaped its wrath either. The cases in India have exceeded 300 with the death tolls going up to as many as six. On Sunday, March 22, two more news of demise in Maharashtra and Bihar have been reported. The sporting world has also come to a standstill. A number of tournaments, including international and domestic, has been suspended.

The start of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) has also been postponed from March 29 to April. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that no professional cricket would take place until the end of May. Cricket in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and others have also been halted.

In the meantime, Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team, had a message for his followers amid the debacle. In his message on Twitter, he sounded confident and put forth how Mother Earth has found a way to stand on her feet even after the coronavirus outbreak.

Rohit Sharma’s words of wisdom

Rohit’s post read, “Through these extremely difficult and dangerous times, Mother Earth has found a way to heal. Our planet has shown us what a difference a lifestyle change can make even in a short amount of time. We always wondered if it was too late to combat climate change but Mother Earth has shown us that we can reverse it and help her heal if we all do it together.

Through these testing times India has seen a major drop in its air and noise pollution levels, Venice has dolphins playing in their harbours, boars running around their streets, Rome has swans in their fountains and the pollution levels have dropped all over the world! This is the world we need to protect.”
