In a very shocking disclosure, it has been disclosed that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is ineligible to contest the elections or vote in JSCA. The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) is the cricket body of the state of Jharkhand. Dhoni is arguably the most prominent name to have come out of the state in a long long time.

Time and again, the JSCA has been speaking volumes about Dhoni’s contribution to the game. But it is just an embarrassment to know that he cannot participate in his home state’s cricket association and its affairs. One of the JSCA members, Mr. Suresh Kumar, exclaimed his disappointment over the fact that Dhoni is deprived of this basic right.

The reason behind this is that only the permanent members of the JSCA can contest the elections or vote. Dhoni, however, has only been given an honorary membership in the board. Suresh Kumar mentioned that Dhoni is arguably the one who deserves this right the most. “If anybody in India deserves a place in the JSCA on the basis of contribution to the game, it is Dhoni,” he quoted.

Surprisingly, an excess of other people who are not much related to cricket, enjoy good permanent memberships with the board. A former member of the JSCA, Mr. Sunil Singh, mentioned that some people give away memberships to their friends and relatives in order to continue their domination in the board.

“Jharkhand Ranji players like Pradeep Khanna and Adil Hussain have not been allowed to be a part of the JSCA, while businessmen and prominent personalities who have no knowledge of the game are enjoying the membership,” quoted Singh.

Amidst all the brouhaha, the JSCA President, Mr. Amitabh Choudhary, has claimed that all the discussions are baseless and hold no significance. If MS Dhoni gets a permament membership, it will only be an honor for the JSCA.

“Honorary membership is a mark of respect. What he (Dhoni) has done for Indian cricket cannot be measured. I don’t understand why there is hullabaloo over his honorary membership. It will be an honour for us to have Dhoni as a permanent member,” Choudhary quoted.

Dhoni’s childhood friend, Chittu – the person whose character was also seen in MS Dhoni’s biopic, quoted that this is a very small matter and it hardly matters to someone of Dhoni’s stature. It will be an honour for us to have Dhoni as a permanent member,” Chittu pointed out.
