MS Dhoni and stump microphones have developed a unique relationship over the years. He is vocal on the field and his instructions for the bowlers from behind the stumps are often captured on the mics. Thereafter, the conversations become a butt of jokes in the social media. Even during the deciding game at the Newlands in Cape Town, the 36-year old wicketkeeper-batsman was heard shouting continuously at his bowlers.

During the 15th over, the former Indian skipper screamed his lungs out three times at Suresh Raina, his teammate in the Chennai Super Kings. Raina was bowling half-trackers in an attempt to cramp Christian Jonker with pace. However, the Proteas batsman churned out ways to smash the part-time off-break bowler. Thereafter, Dhoni shouted at Raina and instructed him to change his length.

He said “Danda pe tez mat daalna (don’t bowl fast at the stumps)

Jonker making India pay

Christian Jonker carried on in his own merry way and spanked the Indian bowlers to all corners of the park. The debutant showed a fearless approach and got South Africa to the threshold of victory. However, to South Africa’s agony and India’s relief, the hosts tantalizingly fell short of the target. Subsequently, India registered their maiden T20I series triumph in the Rainbow nation. India had an awry beginning to the tour as they lost the first couple of Test matches.

However, they stormed back and salvaged pride to comprehensively win the final Test at Johannesburg. They replicated their form in the ODI series and brushed aside the hosts with disdain. They followed it up with an emphatic performance in colored clothing cricket. After a one and half month’s campaign, South Africa will host Australia for a Test series. Meanwhile, India will travel to Sri Lanka to play a triangular T20I series against the hosts and Bangladesh.
