MS Dhoni responds to retirement rumours, says he is still not sure

The cricketing world has been discussing about MS Dhoni ever since reports came out that he is retiring at the end of the World Cup. With him under pressure for quite some time now, the report seemingly sounded real to the majority. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has been facing criticism for more than over a year now. The three fifties in Australia earlier this year did manage to silence the critics for a while but for the large part of the last year or so, Dhoni has been in the firing line of many.

The big names love to retire at the end of the World Cup and the cricketing world did believe that MS Dhoni would also do the same when reports suggested that the former India skipper would bow out of the game after India’s last game in the tournament. It claimed that India’s last match at the World Cup could well turn out to be MS Dhoni’s swan song in India colours.

“You never know with MS Dhoni. But it is unlikely that he will continue to play for India after this World Cup. But since his decisions to quit captaincy from the three formats have been taken so suddenly, it is very difficult to predict at the moment,” a senior BCCI official had told according to India Today.

MS Dhoni himself has now responded to all those rumours and cleared the air surrounding his retirement. According to ABP News, the legendary player said that he is still not sure about when he would retire from the game. The World Cup-winning skipper also said that quite a number of people want him to retire before the game against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

“I don’t know when I will retire. But a lot of people want me to retire before tomorrow’s game,” Dhoni said while speaking to ABP News. He has managed to score runs in the ongoing tournament but it is his strike-rate that has invited criticism.

His knocks against Afghanistan and England were criticised not only by the fans but also some former players. Well, the 37-year definitely knows how to bounce back and he would be desperate to shut his critics up once again.
