MS Dhoni and his waning form in the past few months has made a lot of headlines. However, Dhoni’s performance in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League has been soaring every game. In the previous encounter against RCB, Dhoni smashed 7 sixes during his knock of 34-ball 70.

Former West Indies legend Sir Viv Richards has been impressed by the performance of the CSK skipper. On Friday, Sir Viv in an article written for Times of India wrote that he was impressed the way Dhoni and Rayudu set the tone during the run chase. Richards, the former aggressive batter felt that the partnership between the two would’ve inspired the West Indian Dwyane Bravo as well.

Impressed the way Dhoni and Rayudu played in the partnership

“Dhoni was back to his best with the bat again, carrying the entire hope of his team and the fans on his shoulder in the final overs of the game. He and Ambati (Rayudu) played brilliantly to set the tone for the chase, which would have even inspired DJ (Bravo) to have the belief when he walked in,” read the article.

Richards was impressed the way MS Dhoni, unlike his previous game, went all-gun blazing from the very start of the innings. The Chennai skipper, unlike his Mohali entry, started instantly in Bangalore, which was a sign that he is still the player to watch out for, despite the criticisms he has recently received,” Richards said in the column.

Talking about the rivalry between the two Southern cities Richards felt that the encounter between the two sides has always been thrilling. “The man, as always, kept his cool to push his team over the line in a thrilling game which always has been the case when these two sides have met in the past,” said the former West Indian.

The form MS Dhoni has shown in the IPL would surely help the side going forward. At the same time, one would hope that the former India skipper Dhoni can perform the same way for the Indian side.
