Over the years, we’ve seen the duo of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli share a special bond on and off the field. They have immense mutual respect and have been highly appreciative of one another. The strength of the relationship and the ultimate wish of making a contribution to the team is what has helped the Indian team a great deal as they have two leaders at the helm now.

Earlier this year, when Dhoni stepped down as India’s limited overs captain, Virat even went on to tweet that MS would always remain his captain. He had often described Dhoni as a leader whom a youngster wants around. In a talk show Breakfast with Champions, Viratremarked that Dhoni had one of the best cricketing brains in terms of planning and match situation.

“I don’t think I have ever come across a better cricketing brain, just in terms of planning and knowing what’s happening in the game and what can be done,” he said.

He went on to add that he likes to follow his own instincts but whenever he seeks advice from Dhoni, his suggestion works 9 out of 10 times. The 29-year-old went on to term MS’ presence in the field as a blessing.

“Sometimes I like to follow my own instinct as well but whenever I ask him anything, 8 out of 10 times or 9 out of 10 times, he always tells you the thing that work. So it’s a blessing to have him,” Kohli stated.

On the field, we have seen a lot of occasions where Dhoni and Kohli have been collectively making team decisions. Even at times when Kohli is fielding at long off or long on, Dhoni takes the center stage and shuffles the bowler and makes the fielding changes.

Thus, there’s a lot more than just batting and keeping that MS Dhoni brings to the table for this Indian team.
