MS Dhoni – The Untold Story hits the Rs. 80 Crore mark

It has now been almost five days since MS Dhoni – The Untold Story hit theatres. While the movie has created a lot of impact on a lot of people, it is also safe to say that the box office has also taken a pounding in terms of the revenue generated by the film. As of Wednesday morning, the gross revenue for the film is estimated at Rs. 82.03 crores.

This is a staggering sum of money given the simple fact that the cinema halls all over the country have been packed to the rafters with fans cheering and whistling and clapping every time Dhoni breathed in the movie. Celebrated movie critic Taran Adarsh once again took to twitter to state the revenue of the movie on the day.

His tweet read: “#MSDhoniTheUntoldStory Fri 21.30 cr, Sat 20.60 cr, Sun 24.10 cr, Mon 8.51 cr, Tue 7.52 cr. Total: 82.03 cr. India biz.” Moreover, the fact of the matter remains that this is most certainly one film wherein the path of MS Dhoni’s tough ascend to the top of World Cricket has been traversed, something that has inspired those who have already seen the film.

While the 35-year old Indian skipper is the second cricketer to have his biopic made, he remains to be one of the few sportspersons around the world who is still connected with the sport as well as plying his trade in it.

Dhoni took over the reins of the Indian captaincy in late 2007 when Indian cricket was in a horrific state of turmoil. However, he led the side into the renaissance era along with a few familiar faces in Indian cricket into the light once again.
