The head coach of India Ravi Shastri feels that the experience of MS Dhoni in international cricket cannot be bought or sold in the market. He voiced his support once again in the favour of veteran after calls of him quitting cricket always go high after his non-performance even in one game. But Dhoni has always got vehement support from his skipper Virat Kohli and Shastri. However, Shastri also believed that Mahi will go down as one of the greatest ODI players the world has ever seen.

Dhoni was severely criticised by the former cricketers after he failed to up the ante against New Zealand during the T20I series. But he stormed back into the form in both the limited overs format with better performances in the next few series. Recently, in South Africa, he displayed his prowess with the bat in the second T20I when the top order failed miserably. Moreover, his skills behind the stumps are absolutely unmatched with the Indian chief MSK Prasad admitting the fact that no youngster has put his stand up in that aspect of the game.

Shastri all praise of Mahi

Ravi Shastri was all praise of MS Dhoni while speaking to India Today and believed that the experience he brings with him is immense. “And like I said, there is no substitute for experience. That cannot be bought or sold in the market. He’ll (Dhoni) go down as one of the greatest one-day players the world has ever seen. And when you have that kind of experience, the level of fitness and what he’s maintained,” he said.

Shastri was also upbeat about his finishing skills and felt that only few are better than him when it comes to hitting in the death overs. “When it comes to finishing a game or batting in the final overs, there have been very few better than him in the history of the game. When you have that cushion of someone like him coming at No. 5, 6 or even 7 it makes a big big difference,” the Indian head coach concluded.
