IPL’s most successful franchise Mumbai Indians, have had a terrific scout system and has produced a lot of special talents who  have gone to make the Indian side. Right from Hardik Pandya to Jasprit Bumrah at the present, Mumbai Indians keep producing a lot of gems and have developed them into match winners. One such talent came to the fore in the previous IPL edition when Kumar Kartikeya came as a replacement and did impress with his unorthodox left-arm spin.

Kartikeya was recently part of the Mumbai Indians uncapped squad that toured England for three weeks in July under the watchful eyes of head coach Mahela Jayawardene. Tilak Verma, Ramandeep Singh, and Hrithik Shokeen were all part of the squad, and Kartikeya is a special talent in the making.

Kartikeya’s story was one of the most emotional as he had moved out of home at the age of 15 to stop being a financial burden to his family and had to work in a factory until his dream was achieved. He hadn’t eaten lunch for a whole year and he had to save INR 10 for a pack of biscuits. From such hard work, Kartikeya made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2018 and since then he has found different ways to excel.

Here’s Kumar Kartikeya’s tweet on Twitter

In fact, during his debut IPL season this year, Kartikeya noted about not having met his family for a long time, and the sacrifice was worth the wait finally. He returned with figures of 1 for 19 on his Mumbai Indians debut and is expected to be a future star. On Wednesday (August 3), posted a tweet on Twitter about meeting his family and his mother after more than nine years and explained the emotions. ‘Met my family and mumma after 9 years 3 months. Unable to express my feelings’ – Kumar Kartikeya’s tweet read on Twitter.

The left-arm spinner, who was just a finger spinner at the start of his career, developed wrist spin and other variations to be quite effective, and it has reaped him success already.
