Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will be represented by former BCCI president N Srinivasan at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Special General Meeting to be held in Mumbai on 26 June 2017. The TNCA executive committee has nominated Srinivasan to be the association’s representative at the meet.

The state associations’ meetings with the Committee of Administrators (CoA), will also be attended by Srinivasan. Although he had stepped down as the TNCA president, the former ICC chairman, in his capacity as a representative of Perambalur District Cricket Association, continues to be a member of the association’s executive committee.

According to reports by PTI sources have claimed that by being an executive committee member, Srinivasan was eligible to attend BCCI meetings if the Association nominated him. Sources have also said that it is likely that he will discuss the numerous Lodha panel recommendations. Furthermore, it is expected that he will discuss the chances of allowing outstation players for the second edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

Srinivasan might not be allowed to attend Monday’s meeting

Whether or not Srinivasan will be allowed to attend Monday’s meeting is still unclear. Earlier, back in April, the Supreme Court, having observed that there could be a “cloud” hanging over his integrity, had blocked his unlikely return to the boardrooms of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Both the Supreme Court and the CoA had warned that the office-bearers who had been banned under the Lodha Committee would not be eligible to attend BCCI meetings.

Srinivasan was found ineligible on two counts: one, he had completed nine years as an office-bearer at TNCA and BCCI, and two, he was over 70 years of age. Consequently, he was disqualified and stopped functioning as TNCA chief. However, he is still mentioned as the association president in the TNCA website. Srinivasan was mentioned as “Executive Committee Member” in a recent press release.

His most recent public appearance was at a felicitation ceremony on 19 June 2017 where he had felicitated the Tamil Nadu team that had won the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Deodhar Trophy last season.
