All-rounder Nasir Hossain and fast bowler Shafiul Islam are all set to make a comeback into the Bangladesh Test side for the series against Australia. In the upcoming Test series against the Aussies, both these players will be featuring in the side having last played in 2015. Though there has been no official confirmation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), it seems a mere formality considering the current circumstances.

It is also being speculated that the experienced campaigner Mahmudullah will be accompanied by Mominul Haque. Nasir has been spectacular in the domestic season and this forced the national selectors, the captain and the coach to reconsider his position in the team.

Shafiul Islam too had a terrific outing in the domestic division, which propelled his selection. The fast bowler has been out of the radar for some time now and he would be eager to make the most of the opportunity that he has in hands right now.

Trying to sort the options

Mominul has been a pivotal contributor to his side since he made his debut. But in the previous few Tests, his performances have dipped drastically which led to his axing from the historic 100th Test for the Bangladeshi against Sri Lanka.

Trying to set up the permutations and combinations is always a tough ask for the management but one of the team administration members disclosed that the side is not willing to disrupt the winning combination. They are also looking for a back-up for Mossadek Hossain, who has been in poor form and suffering an eye-infection.

“We just don’t want to disrupt the winning combination,” a member of the team management was quoted in media reports as saying. “We are trying to make sure that we have all our options and so we had included Nasir. We have to keep a back-up of Mossadek as still there are some kind of uncertainty due to his eye,” he added.

It’s highly likely that Nasir Hossain will straight away get into the XI and it will be a tough ask for the lad as the opponents are the mighty Aussies. It will be the first time Australia will feature in an International game after the pay dispute came to an end a few weeks back.
