Zimbabwe is touring Netherlands for a 2-match ODI series followed by a 2-match T20I series. Zimbabwe were quite gutted about missing of the qualification for the World Cup 2019. Missing senior players in the subsequent series showed an effect on the results. Zimbabwe suffered 13 consecutive ODI defeats in a streak that began with two losses in the Cricket World Cup qualification tournament.

They finally brought an end to their losing streak when they whitewashed UAE in the 4-match ODI series in April. The series against the Netherlands will witness the return of senior players including their skipper Hamilton Masakadza and also Brendan Taylor. The hosts, on the other hand, brought back the young names Vivian Kingma and Bas de Leede for this series.

Match Details:

The 1st game of the 2-match ODI series between Netherlands and Zimbabwe will be hosted by the Sportpark Het Schootsveld in Deventer.

The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (9:00 AM GMT) (2:30 PM IST). The game will be live streamed on YouTube and on Netherlands Cricket Website.

Last five completed ODI matches:

Netherlands: L, W, W, L, W.

Zimbabwe: W, W, W, W, L.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Sportpark Het Schootsveld in Deventer hasn’t hosted a List A match for nearly six years and this game between Netherlands and Zimbabwe will be the first ever ODI here. There is no recent data of one-dayers to guess the conditions but the two T20Is played in 2018 were high-scoring. If the pitch stays the same, a score over 280 can be expected.

Team News:

(Will be added when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Craig Ervine has been in brilliant form with the bat this year. The left-hander amassed 1030 runs across 22 innings in all formats in 2019 at an impressive average of 64.37. He struck two centuries and 8 fifties in those 22 innings. Ervine hit two fifties in the 4-match ODI series against UAE in April this year.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Craig Ervine’s brilliant form with the bat makes him a prime choice as captain or vice-captain. The all-rounders Roelof van der Merwe, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza are expected to make useful contributions with both bat and ball.

Other Captain/Vice-Captain Options (in order) – Brendan Taylor, Tobias Visée, Solomon Mire, Ben Cooper, Peter Moor, Pieter Seelaar, Saqib Zulfiqar.

Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Brendan Taylor, Tobias Visée

Batters – Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine (C), Bas de Leede

All-Rounders – Roelof van der Merwe (VC), Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza

Bowlers – Pieter Seelaar, Donald Tiripano, Paul van Meekeren

Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Fantasy Cricket:

Keeper – Brendan Taylor (C)

Batters – Ben Cooper, Peter Moor, Wesley Barresi, Solomon Mire

All-Rounders – Sean Williams (VC), Sikandar Raza, Saqib Zulfiqar

Bowlers – Pieter Seelaar, Vivian Kingma, Kyle Jarvis

Expert Advice:

Ben Cooper and Wesley Barresi are priced at 10 and 9.5 respectively. They can’t be picked if the three big players in the all-rounders category – Roelof van der Merwe, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza are considered. The trio collectively cost 29 credits and there is Brendan Taylor already among keepers with 10 credits.

Probable Winners:

Zimbabwe might face a tough fight from the Netherlands to go 1-0 up in this ODI series.
