The Nidahas Trophy for the T20 triangular tournament has been a witness to some thrilling games. The series started with a one-sided encounter between India and Sri Lanka. However, the teams dished out some jaw-dropping display of cricket as the series progressed. The Final was played between India and Bangladesh at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, which was won by Rohit Sharma’s men.

However, apart from the cricket, the series also saw some ugly banter on the cricket pitch. The Bangladesh cricketers have a tendency to go overboard with their celebrations, which has either made them lose the game or draw criticism from the public. During the tournament, they eked out a new style of celebration- The ‘Naagin (serpent) Dance’.

The much-talked-about ‘Naagin Dance’

The celebration started after Bangladesh notched their highest ever run-chase in T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka in the league. After playing a match-winning knock, Rahim took the ‘Naagin Dance’ out of his sleeve, which grabbed the headlines. Thereafter, the whole team resorted to the dancing style after they stormed into the Final following their stupendous run-chase against the Lankans.

The act by the Bangladesh players became a butt of jokes on the social media platforms. Even the commentators didn’t leave any stone unturned in mocking Shakib’s men. Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian cricketer, and a renowned broadcaster,  also enacted the dance inside the commentary box in the presence of Aamir Sohail and Brett Lee.

However, the act didn’t go down well with the Bangladeshi fans. Subsequently, they ridiculed and bashed him left, right and center. They took to Twitter and expressed their dissatisfaction for Gavaskar.  Apart from the dance, Bangladesh cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Nurul Hasan were fined and handed demerit points courtesy their unsportsmanlike behavior.

Meanwhile, here are the Tweets by the Bangladeshi fans
