'No justification has been provided' - Imad Wasim opens up after losing central contract

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has expressed his disappointment after being dropped from the list of centrally contracted players announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently. To note, the left-arm spinner has not represented his country since the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Imad also stated that he is not being given respect and said that he always has a good influence on the team. The left-arm spinner also emphasized the fact that he was given no justification for being dropped from the central contracts and he had to contact on his own to find out the reason.

“I have not played a single match since the World Cup. I don’t know the reason behind this, to be honest. No justification has been provided to me and reasons are given to me, but I am unsatisfied with them. But whatever happens, happens because it is Almighty’s will,” he told Cricket Pakistan in an interview.

“After the contracts and the teams are announced, I have to contact on my own to find out the reasons. Sometimes they respond, sometimes they don’t. One reason given to me was regarding the positive influence on the team. I don’t think I have a negative influence. I play leagues all around the world and whenever I play for one team, they approach me again and that shows that I don’t have a negative influence. This nullifies their first reason for not selecting me,” he added.

Imad’s career has also been marred with injuries and the 33-year-old has now stated that the Pakistan team management still uses it as an excuse for not including him in the team.

“The fitness issues were also brought up. But truth to be told, I have a lot of dignity and pride since that is how I have always represented Pakistan. I used to get frustrated a lot by the reasons for non-selection but now I feel extremely weird because their responses are the same,” he said.
