PAK vs AUS: Teams observe a minute of silence in memory of Shane Warne, Peshawar blast victims

Ahead of Day two of Pakistan vs Australia Test, a one-minute silence was observed in Rawalpindi by the two teams in memory of former Australian cricketer, Shane Warne and the victims of a recent bomb blast in Peshawar. A clip that shows the two teams, their support staff, and everyone present at the ground observing the one-minute silence was shared by the official Twitter handle of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

While Warne passed away on March 4th due to a heart attack, there was a recent explosion reported in the city of Peshawar on the same day. The blast happened at a mosque and took the lives of many besides leaving plenty with injuries. Pakistan has in the past seen several such explosions around the nation at different times. The players of both teams lined up before the start of play in respect of both unfortunate happenings.

Shane Warne’s demise comes as a shock to many


The cricketer’s passing has come as a massive shock to all those involved within the game and fans alike. Warne was just 52 at the time of his death and had been very active in the cricketing fraternity with his various broadcasting and media assignments over the years. The cricketer had planned a three-month vacation in Thailand post a tedious Australian summer covering the game for the Fox network. He was residing at a private villa in Thailand at the time of his demise.

As per reports, there were desperate attempts made by one of his friends to revive the cricketer through CPR. The emergency medical staff at the hospital also made their efforts, however, to no avail. Since his demise, there have been innumerable condolence messages and tributes that have been pouring in from all around the world of cricket. The Indian and Sri Lankan teams also observed a moment of silence in the memory of the cricketer before the start of play on Day 2 of the first Test between the two sides in Mohali.
