Indian team saw exit from the T20 World Cup 2021 after Afghanistan lost to New Zealand by eight wickets. In the same light of events, Virat Kohli’s tweet from 2012 has been doing rounds on the internet. Kohli tweeted back in 2012 that they are going home now and it’s not a good feeling after the Asia Cup ouster. However, India’s exit from T20 WC 2021 led fans to troll him on the same tweet.

India began its campaign in T20 WC on a terrible note as they lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets and when it was a chance for them to better up fortunes against NZ, they lost again by eight wickets. The victories that came later couldn’t do any good to Kohli and his men as it was too late to mend things.

Had Afghanistan won against NZ, India still could have had chances. However, now Pakistan and NZ move through the semis from group two. On the other hand, Australia and England will play the semi-final from group one of the T20 WC.

Virat Kohli’s old tweet from 2012  becomes the new target of trollers

It will be for the first time since 2012 that India fails to make it to the semi-final of any ICC event. Many former cricketers and experts have been criticizing India’s performance this year and Kapil Dev stated that these types of results will come up when players will prioritize playing franchise cricket over the nation. Though he isn’t against franchise games, BCCI should plan schedules better for players.

“When players prioritize IPL over playing for the country, we what can we say. Players should take pride in playing for their nation. I don’t know their financial conditions so can’t say much. But I feel that first in line should be the country’s team and then franchises.”

“I’m not saying do not play cricket there (for the franchise), but the responsibility is now on the BCCI to plan its cricket better. To not repeat mistakes, we committed in this tournament is the biggest learning for us,” said Kapil Dev earlier.
