The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash is just four days away. The contest was a highly anticipated one ever since the draws of the group came out. It caught wind on social media as fans from both countries are having heated arguments ahead of the battle between the two teams.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has backed his country to beat India on Sunday. While Razzaq is wary of Pakistan being without their power-hitters Sharjeel Khan and Umar Akmal, he still thinks that Pakistan is good enough to win against a powerful India side. He was quoted by Pakistan website PakPassion.

No Sharjeel and Akmal

Sharjeel Khan is, of course, suspended by the PCB since his alleged participation in a spot-fixing incident during the second season of the PSL. Umar Akmal was initially picked by the selectors to appear in the mega event but was later sent home from England as he failed to clear two fitness tests. He was subsequently replaced by Haris Sohail in the squad.

If one goes by cricketing logic, India is a much better side going into this encounter. They have experience and proven performers who did well for the side in their title triumph in 2013. Pakistan, on the other hand, lacks in experience. They do have immense potential in their squad but big games require a lot of mental strength which comes only by experience.

Razzaq himself appeared in the Champions Trophy on 10 occasions scattered across 4 tournaments. He has 10 wickets against his name at an impressive economy rate of 4.38. His batting was less effective as he could muster to just 135 runs in 8 innings at a poor average of 22.50. The all-rounder’s last appearance was in the 2006 edition which was held in India.

Fans cannot wait for the action to commence between these two arch-rivals. The Birmingham crowd will be agog for the game on Sunday afternoon at Edgbaston.
