Pakistan Cricket Board is taking every step in order to improve the performances of their national side. After their early exit from the 2019 World Cup, they removed their Champions Trophy-winning coach Micky Arthur and brought Misbah-ul-Haq into the action. And now they have sacked Sarfaraz Ahmed from the captaincy. The things for him got worse when he was  dropped from the squad which will travel to Australia for T20I and Test series.

There were rife speculations that PCB might take a strong step against the 32-year-old and the same happened after Pakistan faced a humiliating defeat from Sri Lanka. But, it looks like former quick Shoaib Akhtar is not impressed with the fallout of former captain from the squad.

Shoaib Akhtar is not impressed with the team selection to play against Australia

Shoaib Akhtar thinks that although Sarfaraz was not a daring skipper but he has a good record in T20Is, so there was no need to drop him out, “Sarfaraz has been dropped. In my opinion, PCB is not right in dropping the former skipper as he has a good record in the T20 format. I would suggest Sarfaraz to make a strong come back and make a statement. As a captain, he was not daring enough. I hope he changes his attitude to make a comeback,” Shoaib said on his YouTube channel.

However, he also recited PCB should have gone with Kamran Akmal on the back of his recent performances in the domestic circuit and feels it is a tough tour for Pakistan, “It’s a difficult and tough tour. We have always failed to win a series in Australia. PCB has done progressive thinking and they have selected the right squad for the series. I am not talking about the batting, I am not fully satisfied when it comes to batting as in my opinion Kamran Akmal should have been selected for the T20 format,” he added.

Babar Azam is appointed as the new skipper in T20Is and Azhar Ali in Tests for Pakistan. The tour starts from 3rd of November.
