The Afghan Cricket league is all set to be blessed with the participation of former Pakistani greats Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq. The duo has made it clear that they will be a part of the league to promote peace through the sport in the country.  who is currently in his 37th year will don the jersey of the Amo Sharks according to reports.

Details:

Legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi took to his official Twitter handle to announce the big news last month. He mentioned his mission to promote peace through cricket and tweeted “I’ll be playing at Afghan T20 league supporting and promoting peace through cricket, I represent Pakistan wherever I go. #PakistanZindabad”.

Other Pakistanis in the name of Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Babar Azam, Sohail Tanveer and Ruman Raees are expected to join the two stalwarts in the Afghan League. However, if reports are to be believed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not willing to issue them a no-objection certificate in order to block their participation.

It has come to notice that the PCB has confirmed Geo.TV that Shahid Afridi asked the PCB to grant him permission to play the Big Bash League and the domestic T20 League in Australia but not the Shpageeza Cricket League.

The PCB and the ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) does not have a healthy relationship ever since Afghanistan cancelled its proposed home and away tour with Pakistan earlier this season as a result of a bomb blast in Kabul. The reason behind the same is that the Afghanistan intelligence agencies held Pakistan responsible for the blast.

“The ACB hereby cancel all kinds of cricket matches and initial mutual relationship agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board,” the Afghan board had stated on its official Facebook page. “No agreement of friendly matches and mutual relationship agreement is possible with a country where terrorists are housed and provided safe havens.” the board added.
