PCB unveils all the trophies for PSL 2018 in Dubai

The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) promises to be a grand affair. The cricket carnival is just a couple of days away from kicking off this season. The tournament was first played in the year 2016. The immense popularity of the T20 leagues around the world prompted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to have a T20 league of their own.

Also, the fact that the Pakistani players were not allowed to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) deprived the young Pakistani talent of the ideal exposure they would have liked at an early stage. Amidst this backdrop, the PCB announced the inaugural edition of the PSL. The tournament proved to be a mega hit with the Islamabad United winning the first edition of the tournament.

Last year, in the 2017 edition, the tournament fetched yet another glorious cap. The finals of the tournament was played in Lahore. This brought back cricket of international sorts back to the Pakistani soil. Peshawar Zalmi, led by Darren Sammy, won the coveted silverware after beating the Quetta Gladiators in the finals.

Stage all set for PSL 2018

And now, the stage is all set for the 2018 edition of the tournament. A new team, Multan Sultans, is added to the tournament roster. The season opener will see Multan Sultans take on the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi on February 22 in Dubai.

Ahead of the tournament opener, the board unveiled the trophy for Pakistan Super League 2018. Along with the title trophy, a string of other trophies were also introduced at the event held in Dubai.

All the trophies are made of gold and studded with glimmering diamonds. There is a golden ball for the best bowler, a golden bat for the best batsman, and a golden glove for the best wicket keeper in the tournament.

Also, there are Player of the Tournament and the Man of the Match awards to be given in the tournament this year. With the unveiling ceremony of the trophies for PSL 2018, the organizers have certainly led the firm base of a spectacular season this year.
