Indian batsman Virat Kohli is in the middle of a purple patch, especially in limited-overs cricket. The Delhi-born cricketer is currently playing the five-match ODI series against Windies and has already scored 297 runs in a couple of contests at an incredible average of 297. Moreover, he became the fastest batsman to 10,000 runs in the 50-overs format.

The seasoned campaigner is currently the number one ranked ODI batsman and hasn’t done any reputation any harm by any stretch of the imagination. To multiply his delight, the 29-year-old has also notched 1000 ODI runs in the current year and has the chance of racking up more as India have quite a few One Day fixtures in the upcoming months.

As far as failures are concerned, they have been few and far between in the right-hander’s career. Back in 2011, when Kohli was taking baby steps in cricket at the highest level, he encountered a rare failure against the Netherlands in the 2011 Cricket World Cup in the sub-continent. He came to bat in the 10th over after the dismissal of Yusuf Pathan while chasing 190.

Borren turns back the clock

He hit a couple of boundaries but was nipped out by medium pacer Peter Borren, who hung his boots from international cricket back in April this year. Kohli could only score 12 runs from 20 balls and was the fourth wicket to fall for India in the 15th over. In the meantime, a Twitter user churned out a statistics where Kohli averages only 12 against the Netherlands.

Thereafter, Borren went down the memory lane and reminisced how he got rid of the big fish seven years ago. He took to Twitter and wrote, “It’s quite simple really. 115kph cross seaming wobblers thru the gate. Don’t know what all the fuss is about,”

Here is Borren’s tweet
