The Women’s World Cup 2017 was a huge success. The tournament which was won by England women proved to be a spectacle. India ending as runners up brought a lot of change with respect to the stature of women’s cricket in the country. There is a lot of emphasis being placed on women’s cricket at the moment.

Mithali Raj who leads the One Day side spoke about the changes that have been brought up since the World Cup. There were also talks about whom she would prefer to play her role if a biopic was made on her. She had earlier praised the BCCI for offering them central contracts.

Priyanka Chopra will be a great choice

In an era of biopics, we’ve seen far too many recently. As of cricketers, we’ve already seen one made on Indian captain MS Dhoni. Mithali Raj chose Priyanka Chopra as her top choice if a biopic was ever made on her life. Priyanka last played Mary Kom in a biopic based on the boxer’s life.

“I think Priyanka Chopra will be a great choice to play a biopic on me. Our personalities match a lot. However, I am not a movie buff, so I would love the experts to do their job.” She was quoted as saying by TOI.

There is a lot of fan following for us after the World Cup

Mithali Raj was quite satisfied with the way things panned out for them after their runners up stint in the World Cup last year. She spoke about how the fan following had reached another level. Also the fact, that matches are now being telecast. She lauded BCCI for offering central contracts as this allowed them to place more emphasis on the sport.

“I think the perception of the people has changed. They can now see it is not just about men but women also play equally well. There is lot of following after the world cup. With increasing number of followers, most of the matches are being televised. Also, with the BCCI coming in, we are now centrally contracted players. The players can actually invest more time in improving their games rather than thinking about jobs.” She told according to IANS.
