The prowess of a dexterous English youth- Jos Buttler:
He was the winner of the young Wisdens school cricketer of the year in 2010. An integral part of the team, Buttler is one of the most destructive batters in the world right now. Like most English batsmen Buttler has an upright batting stance and uses his strong bottom hand to generate power while hitting his shots.

The dexterous lad from Somerset has been England’s priced possession in the past couple of years and has achieved great heights proving his mettle as a fine world-class batsman capable of facing the best. Buttler was also a wicket keeper for a short period of time though he is not a regular keeper. If you are an avid cricket fan and a devout follower of the game, that you are sure to remember his innings of 47 off 16 balls in an ODI game in June 2013. While he has risen to eminence as a big hitter what is more tantalizing about his batting is the fact that his aggressive batting style isn’t contingent on brute power alone. He times the ball exquisitely well and that is what is the signature of his batting style. He was not timid to showcase his flair in the grandest stage of cricket, the world cup.

In the ICC Cricket world cup 2015, Butler very nearly got England safely through to the quarter finals scoring a very brisk 65 runs. But unfortunately faltered at the final hurdle. He has been named the man of the match 5 times in his ODI career and has been his team’s lone saviour many times. Buttler has now cemented his place in the English side and he is just 24 years old with more than a decade of cricket left in him.

He is one of the very few English players who can play spin very effectively as well as against pacers. The British lad seems to idolize Mr.360 of cricket, AB de Villiers. Recently Jos Buttler revealed his desire to be the next AB de Villiers of cricket. That shows how he has set his target sky-high as de Villiers is arguably the best player in the world now. Jos Buttler has brought in a new dimension to the English batting unit, with his aggressive batting style and mentality. He has all the abilities endowed in him that can make him as great a finisher as someone like a Michael Bevan. But only time will tell if he goes on to become one of the greats of English cricket or he will fade away into murk like many others who showed promising signs initially but couldn’t live up to the expectations.
