The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after a serious brainstorming, has finally come up with the schedule of the upcoming edition of their T20 leagues. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will commence on February 14 next year with the defending champions Islamabad United facing the new-look Lahore Qalandars. A glittering opening ceremony will also take place prior to the first match of the season.
The first weekend of the tournament will witness the match being played in Dubai after which the action will shift to Sharjah where a lot of T20 cricket has been played this year. Throughout the duration of the league on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the double-headers are scheduled as the competition will move forward quickly during the weekends.
League matches Pakistan
According to Geo News, unlike the previous editions, a couple of league matches will also be played in Pakistan. Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars will play their last two league games in front of their home crowd. The PSL will be shifted to the home country on March 7 and then the playoffs will commence on March 12.
The PCB has taken a huge step by organising eight matches in Pakistan and slowly but surely they are moving the tournament to where it belongs. However, it remains to be seen if the foreign cricketers agree to travel to Pakistan. The last edition saw only three matches being played in Karachi and Lahore combined. But this time, the Qalandars and the Kings have a chance to make it count at their home ground.
A total of six teams will compete for the ultimate glory across 34 matches during the 32-day tournament during the fourth season of the T20 extravaganza. The Islamabad franchise has won it twice while the Peshawar Zalmi have been crowned champions once. The other four teams, however, are yet to lay their hands on the silverware.
