Peshawar Zalmi got their 2nd win of the PSL 2020 as they edged past Lahore Qalandars by 16 runs during a rain-affected match. Tom Banton and Haider Ali scored 34 runs apiece in 15 and 12 balls respectively as Zalmi raced to 50 in only 3.3 overs.

Peshawar couldn’t carry on the way they started and had to settle down with 132/7 in the restricted 12 overs. Qalandars got off to a good start with a 48-run opening stand in four overs. Lewis Gregory’s 4-wicket haul initiated a top-order collapse from which the Qalandars failed to recover and were limited to 116/6.

Yet another win for Peshawar against Lahore:

7Peshawar Zalmi now has won each of their last seven matches in the PSL against the Lahore Qalandars. The winning streak of Peshawar over Lahore began from the start of the 2017 edition. Lahore’s lone win over Zalmi came in the 2016 edition by a margin of mere 4 runs.


8-1 – Peshawar Zalmi has won 8 out of the nine PSL matches they played against the Lahore Qalandars till date; the most number of PSL wins for any team against an opposition. Zalmi and Islamabad United won 8 matches apiece against the Karachi Kings while Quetta Gladiators also won 8 PSL matches against Peshawar.


A quick-fire knock from Haider Ali:

283.33 – Haider Ali’s strike rate of 283.33 during his 34 off 12 balls is the 3rd highest during an innings in Pakistan Super League. (Min: 30 runs) Colin Munro amassed 32 off 11 balls at a strike rate of 290.90 for Karachi Kings against Islamabad United in the 2019 edition. Kamran Akmal scored a 27-ball 77 at 285.18 also for Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings in 2018.


Gregory’s all-round show:

4/25 – Lewis Gregory’s 4-wicket haul is now the first by an overseas player for Peshawar Zalmi. Overall, this is the 6th 4-fer in the PSL for Peshawar – Hasan Ali (Three 4-fers in 2019), Shahid Afridi (5/7 in 2016) and Umaid Asif (4/23 in 2018).


16 – Gregory also scored 16 runs from 8 balls with two sixes in this match. Only four players scored more than 16 or more runs including Gregory among the 35 four-wicket hauls in the PSL.


100 – Lewis Gregory completed 100 wickets in the Twenty20 format. Gregory’s 4th wicket of this game – Sohail Akhtar was his 100th T20 wicket.


A game of 4-wicket hauls:

1 – Dilbar Hussain (4/24) and Lewis Gregory (4/25) recorded the first-ever instance of two players taking 4-wicket hauls in the same match in the Pakistan Super League. There have been 33 four-wicket hauls in the PSL before this match and each of them coming in a different match.


10 – Dilbar Hussain’s 4-wicket haul is the 10th for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL history; the most number of 4-fer for any team in the PSL. Eight out of those ten 4-fers came in the PSL matches played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Dilbar’s 4-fer came in Rawalpindi while Shaheen Shah Afridi took a 4-fer during the last match in Lahore.
