England star Alex Hales has revealed the reason behind posting the photo of the food provided to him during his stay in Pakistan for the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Hales’ post came just moments after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that it has postponed the tournament in the wake of several positive COVID-19 cases.
PCB took the decision after three more players tested positive for the virus on Thursday. The new cases brought the tally of total positives in the tournament bubble to seven, of which six were players. The sixth edition of PSL had started on February 20. Only fourteen out of the scheduled 34 matches in the tournament have been completed.
And as if the postponement was not enough, Hales’ post regarding the food offered to him invited more criticism for the PCB. Hales, who is a part of Islamabad United, took to Instagram to post a photo of the food and it seemed like he was indirectly trolling the PCB. In the photo, two eggs along with a toast and an unopened packet could be seen. The condition of the egg also made many fans troll PCB as they took shots at the PCB for the poor quality of the food.
Alex Hales clarifies:
With the PCB facing criticism from all around after Hales’ post, the England star himself took to Twitter to clarify his post. It all started when a Pakistani cricket journalist took to the social media platform to share Hales’ post and wrote:
“It seems Alex Hales might not have been happy with the quality of food served to him at breakfast time during the PSL”

Hales noticed the tweet and replied to it quickly to make things clear. The right-handed batsman clarified that there was no issue with the quality and he posted the photo only because the order was incorrect. Hales also stated that the food and hospitality in Pakistan have been excellent as he wrote:
“It was one meal where the order was incorrect.. I found it funny, nothing more. The food and hospitality here has been excellent, hope this clears it up.”
