Maharashtra batsman Kedar Jadhav who has been out of action since April 7, the first day of the IPL 2018 is set to be back in action. The CSK player suffered a massive hamstring injury that kept him out of action for the four months, Jadhav recently announced that he had recovered and resumed training. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) thus included him in the India A squad for the Quadrangular series.
Jadhav replaces Mumbai’s Siddhesh Lad in the team for the series that involves India B, Australia A and South Africa A as the other three teams. The selectors made another change in the originally announced squad and have added another player who has been in the reckoning for a national spot. Ambati Rayudu will now play for the India B team. Rayudu after an amazing IPL season with the bat representing CSK was rewarded with a spot in the Indian ODI team for the tour of England.
He failed to clear the yo-yo test and was subsequently replaced by Suresh Raina for the tour. Rayudu would’ve reappeared the test and cleared it as the same fitness parameters apply to the A teams. It is Hyderabad’s Ricky Bhui who had to make way for Rayudu. Both the youngsters Lad and Bhui have been picked in the India Red and India Blue squads respectively for the ongoing Duleep Trophy.
Jadhav had been a regular feature in the Indian limited-overs sides before suffering the injury and had to miss the tour of United Kingdom. Rayudu earned a comeback call-up in the ODI team on the back of his 602 runs that he scored in the IPL at an average of 43.00.
