South African speedster, Dale Steyn has been out of action for close to ten months now but through a social media post, the paceman hinted that he could soon return to international cricket. Steyn had broken a bone in his shoulder during the away Test series against Australia and hasn’t played any cricket since then.
What makes Steyn special is his rhythmic sprint to the crease with a whippy release which all young fast-bowlers yearn for. Predominantly an outswing bowler, Steyn, has the ability to surprise and strike with one that goes away from the batsman. His ability to bowl at a consistent pace even at the fag end of a Test match makes him a standout athlete of this generation.
Steyn’s partner in crime, Kagiso Rabada says he is delighted that his companion is all set to make a comeback in the T20 Global League.
Interview With Rabada
In an exclusive interview in Johannesburg, Kagiso Rabada expressed his thoughts and termed 34-year old lad as ‘Phalaborwa Express’ and is eagerly waiting for his comeback.
Rabada told Sports24 that, “Steyn has been resilient and patient with his injury. He is going to come back and from what I see he looks like he wants to make an impact so he is really motivated and I’m interested to see what he is going to bring to the party.
“It’s always exciting to have the best bowler around. He has been there for six years and it’s always exciting to have someone like Dale Steyn back in your team.”
A good headache for selectors
The speedster is just four short of reaching the historic number 421 Test wickets, which eventually would tie him with former Proteas all-rounder Shaun Pollock as the all-time leading South African wicket-taker in Test cricket.
South Africa is all set to play two-match Test series against Bangladesh in a week’s time and Rabada believes that the South African board will have a good headache to choose the best combination.
“Our side is going to be at full strength and it’s going to give a few selectors some headaches, but you know that’s a good problem to have,” concluded Rabada.
