All the eight teams are battling out hard to gain an upper hand in the Quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19. While two games have progressed into the third innings, the second innings in being played in the other two. Wasim Jaffer and Sanjay Ramaswamy were two of the best performers of the day.

Vidarbha bowled out Uttarakhand for 355 runs quite early in the day. Umesh Yadav, who has returned to the domestic fold picked up a four-wicket haul. Then, Jaffer and Ramaswamy have forged together an unbeaten partnership of 215 runs together and are going strong. While the former is unbeaten on 111, his partner stretched his score to 112. Vidarbha seemed to have an upper hand at the end of the day and still trail by 95 runs.

From 340/7, Uttar Pradesh was bowled out for 385 runs in the second quarterfinal game. With 150 runs, Rinku Singh was the highest run-scorer while Jaydev Unadkat picked up a 5-wicket haul. The home team seems to be on the top of Saurashtra who is reeling at 170/7 at the moment. Cheteshwar Pujara, after the successful tour of Australia, failed in the first innings and was dismissed for only 11 runs. Saurashtra still trails Uttar Pradesh’s score by 215 runs.

Vinay Kumar fights back beautifully for Karnataka

The game between Karnataka and Rajasthan has been quite an even battle with both the teams trying hard to get the better of the other. After bowling out Rajasthan for 224 on Day 1, Karnataka started the proceedings with an overnight score of 12/0. With the help of an unbeaten 83 from former skipper Vinay Kumar, the side battled hard and put up 263 runs on the board. In reply, Rajasthan was 11/0 at the close of play on day-2 and still trails by 28 runs.

The final quarterfinal between Kerala and Gujarat is progressing forward at a rapid pace. Three innings of the game are already done and it is likely that the result will be out tomorrow. Gujarat will need to chase 195 runs in the fourth innings to seal their spot in the semi-final of the Ranji Trophy.

Karnataka vs Rajasthan, 3rd Quarterfinal
