Ranji Trophy 2018-19: Railways pacer Anureet Singh bowls a beautiful banana in-swinger

The fifth round of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 kicked off on Thursday. In one of the Group A encounters, Gujarat hosted Railways at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Valsad. In this match, Anureet Singh pulled off a brilliant in-swinger that drifted in miles and left the batsman perplexed.

The pacer completely outdid Gujarat opener Kathan Patel and dismissed him for only six runs early in the innings. The wrist position, the area where the ball landed, the amount of swing – everything seemed to be right about that delivery. It is indeed a dream sight for any fast bowler to see the stumps fly all over the place. Anureet Singh looked pumped after picking this wicket and celebrated hard.

It seems as if he is still not over this dream delivery. He shared the video of the wicket on the micro-blogging site Twitter the next day. The 30-year-old pacer is vastly experienced. He also plied his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab. Anureet accounted for 18 wickets in a total of 23 IPL matches. In first-class cricket, he picked up 223 runs in 60 games thus far.

Anureet also picked up the wicket of Gujarat skipper Priyank Panchal in the innings. Panchal looked good for his 69 off 98 deliveries. The home team was bundled out for 367 runs in 93.5 overs in the first innings of the match. In a reply, Railways scored 266/3 in 82 overs thus far at the close of play on day-2.

Nitin Bhille with an unbeaten 109 off 191 balls looked mighty impressive. The Railways, however, still trail by 101 runs. They would be eyeing at a big first innings total from where they can possibly win the match by an innings.
